The Generational Mother Healer: Honoring the Quiet Strengths and Victories of Kamalavally's Journey

Post Vijayadasami (the triump of good), October 3, 2025, I am publishing the newsletter dedicated to "The Generational Mother Healer". This announcement was initially shared on my mother's birthday, August 21, 2025, on Facebook regarding the forthcoming newsletters.

Why did I select this topic? In our rapidly advancing, tech-focused world, we frequently overlook our beginnings, especially our mothers, who are the origin of everything in the universe. With this topic, I aim to emphasize few important village kuladevis in the future as time permits to convey the essence of their transformative stories and the sacrifices they made to be revered as the Kuladeivam of their communities. Known as "Gramata Devi", "Ellai Kuladevi" or "Kuladevi", etc., they are often less mentioned or recognized during Navarathri.

In this blog post, we will delve into the unique aspect as experienced by my mother, Kamalavally. Through her story, we will reveal the unseen strengths and victories that shape her journey, and perhaps find echoes of our own experiences along the way. My mother, shaped me into who I am today and I am thankful for her prayer and guidance.

This newsletter seeks to convey her stories through the leading title “The Generational Mother Healer," highlighting the enduring wisdom and recipes she crafted and cherished, alongside stories handed down through generations that honor the often-overlooked sacrifices of women who became revered as Goddesses in their communities.

A Fresh Start: The Journey of the Generational Mother Healer Surpassing My Mother

When my mother was eight, she began cooking for her family. She recalls that during that time, education for girls was frowned upon, even in a developing nation like Malaysia. She married my father when she was 20, and he was 21.

Her grandaunt and granduncle looked after her, but it was her granduncle who truly cherished her and motivated her to learn new skills, which she mastered successfully. She started making bags from wires and selling them, in addition to creating flower and wedding arrangements. She also sewed bedsheets and crafted various decorations. People from diverse ethnic backgrounds in the community would contact her for events, ordering complete wedding and event decorations. She fondly recalls her granduncle buying her a bicycle to travel and also to learn singing. She was beautiful, young at heart, and always willing to help everyone in her community. She was a weaver of things of this unverse has to offer.

Within her was Shakti, the eternal source of wisdom. She comes from the lineage of Tripura (Meenakshi), the generational mother healer, the weaver, and from a young age, my mother created her works. From her and through her, came the spark and along with the completion of my spiritual journey to build my Yash Foundation.

The Power of Community: Finding Support and Kamala began to be known as "Saree Aunty"

One of the most significant aspects of Kamalavally's journey was the importance of community. She surrounded herself with other mothers who shared similar experiences, forming a support network that became invaluable.

Through shared stories, and mutual encouragement, these women created a safe space to discuss the challenges of motherhood. This sense of camaraderie not only eased the burdens of motherhood but also fostered a sense of belonging.

In her later years, at her current residence, she earned the nickname "Saree Aunty" because she always wore her beautiful sarees to celebrate Indian culture, from morning to night, whether at functions, weddings, or other events. Nowadays, she prefers casual clothing for greater flexibility.

The Importance of Self-Care: Nurturing the Nurturer

In the midst of her busy life, Kamalavally learned the importance of self-care. She realized that to be the best mother she could be, she needed to prioritize her own well-being.

Whether it was taking a quiet moment to enjoy a cup of tea or indulging in a hobby she loved, these small acts of self-care rejuvenated her spirit. By nurturing herself, she was better equipped to nurture her family, creating a positive cycle of care and love.

She continues to adore gardening to this day. She enjoys conversing with the plants and flowers, and they flourish beautifully, mirroring her own image.

Passing Down Wisdom

By sharing stories and experiences, she imparted her wisdom, highlighting the significance of kindness and adhering to the principles of spiritual law. This legacy served as a guiding light for her children, enabling them to confidently find their own paths.

Testimonial

Her recent encounter with Om Namah Sivaya has empowered her with the belief that even if she were on the verge of a physical fall, her ancestors would come to her aid. Rather than falling, she stood strong, supported by the Siva Shakti within her that has existed for ages.

Conclusion: A Journey Worth Celebrating

Kamalavally's journey is a beautiful tapestry woven with invaluable lessons. Her journey reflects the experiences of many women who navigate the complexities with grace and determination.

As we celebrate the unseen battles and triumphs of mothers like Kamalavally, let us remember the importance of community, self-care, and the legacy we create for future generations.
